Nathaniel's YBike Pewi

Growing up as an aMuse baby has many perks. For his first birthday, Nathaniel was given a YBike Pewi from Claudia, Tom and Sebastian Towles.

It was an exciting day. From the moment the box arrived in the house, Nathaniel started pointing at the kid on the box yelling “wazz at?” over and over. As Dad put the bike together, Nathaniel handed him the pieces and helped (as only a 1 year old can). He was climbing in and out of the Pewi’s empty box, but that was quickly getting old. It must have seemed like an eternity for the little man. Assembly, for us, took only a few minutes and was actually quite simple.

At last, the YBike Pewi was complete and ready to ride! Nathaniel immediately pulled himself up and was standing next to the Pewi. He knew just what to do and started putting his leg up to get onto the seat. It was as if he was thinking, “if the kid on the box can do this so can I!” His legs were still a little short, so I helped.

When he was sitting on the seat, he got oddly calm and had a look of total concentration on his face. This was a serious ‘big boy moment,’ and he knew it. He started moving his legs, and I helped push him over the carpet. Once we got to the smooth kitchen floor he was able to scoot along with his tiptoes.

His father and I were amazed at how quickly he took to it. After he hopped off, he grabbed the Pewi by the handle bar rings and used it as a walker to get back to the front room! It was great to see him confidently walk himself around the house with the aid of his Pewi.

By the end of the next day he was able to get on the bike by himself. He kept giving us a look that said, “OK folks, get to pushing, I’m ready to ride!”

Nathaniel can now get on the bike himself and scoot around on both smooth floor and carpet. He's free to scoot around the whole house because wheels feature non-marking rubber, which is easy on my floors. The narrow seat makes it easy for him to swing his leg over to sit down, and the wide legs makes it a stable ride, which keeps him from tipping over. Nathaniel's favorite part about the Pewi is that it spins 360° so he can easily scoot in any direction.

YBike Pewis come in blue, red and pink and can be used indoors and outdoors.
